Joan Manuel Gisbert (Barcelona, ??October 16, 1949) is a leading Spanish writer of children's literature. His works have been translated into twenty languages ??and have won major awards at national level. Because of the untimely death of his father, started working early, working with different publishers. He traveled to Paris to study theater and on his return he published his first book, fantastic scenarios (1979), which won the Prize of the CCIS. A year later, his book The Mystery of the island of Tökland (1981) won the Lazarillo of literary creation in its 1980 edition and was on the Honor Roll Andersen Award. His next book, Legends of the planet Thamyris (1982), was declared in 1983 Children's Book of Interest by the Ministry of Culture. With the Museum of Dreams (1984) won the National Children's Literature. On the night of the eclipse (1990) was awarded the Gran Angular. The voice of morning Edebé was awarded in 1995. It has also got the award twice Steam Boat, in 1990 with "The mystery of the woman automaton", and in 2000 with "The message of the birds" as well as other prizes and awards at international level. In his very personal and distinctive works, Gisbert develops unique adventures that are based on real life, which are also part of the contents of dreams and imagination, to venture into unknown areas of reality, never neglecting the artistic dimension writing and the expressive richness of language. The unprecedented and extraordinary in his work appears as the reverse of the fabric of life, as an extension of the areas of human experience, beyond the apparent and the everyday. In their texts for younger readers, this author would like to develop stories inspired by the thematic elements of myths, tales and legends of all time, through new stories of creation, with its special atmosphere of enchantment, adventure, award winning mystery books , enchantment and discovery. He currently teaches courses on the fantastic imagination and frequently participates in seminars and meetings of children's literature and the themes of fantasy art.
